Real Humans on Camera Still Matter

18 months ago, I predicted that our work at Zander Media would have evaporated due to the coming AI tsunami.

I’m very pleased to report that I was wrong!

We’ve had more diverse and interesting productions than ever, so I thought I would take today’s newsletter to highlight a few of the interesting projects and clients we’ve had the pleasure of working alongside.

National Summer Learning Association

The year kicked off with a project in Alabama for the National Summer Learning Association, a D.C. think tank and advocacy group that promotes out-of-school learning experiences for kids.

My childhood was shaped by a backpacking summer camp in the Trinity Alps near Shasta in California, so this work is near and dear to my heart.

Together with my colleague Jonathan, we traveled to Alabama, filmed a huge variety of content, and created this video about NSLA’s Summer Leadership Forum.

One of the trends that has become increasingly common in the last year is clients wanting the raw footage of a production and not just the final product. In this case, we filmed several dozen interviews and dozens of hours of additional content that will continue to serve NSLA well and enable them to create content over the coming years.

Suzy Welch & The Initiative on Purpose and Flourishing

One of the highlights from last year’s Responsive Conference was interviewing Suzy Welch on our stage.

I kept close with her and her organization after last year’s conference, and Zander Media filmed their own convening at NYU in the spring.

Suzy advocates that the importance of purpose in our lives is only going to increase in the coming decade. To support that mission, I’m also pleased to have joined her External Advisory Board.

Behind the Keynote by Transform

Over the last several years, we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Transform, the largest innovative conference about humans and work, which takes place globally throughout the year and in person in Las Vegas each spring.

Across several film teams throughout the week in March, we filmed executive interviews, highlight videos, and – perhaps most beautifully – several “Behind the Keynote” videos with main stage speakers.

Transform is releasing these “digital magazine” issues each month, and you can follow along with them here.

Ema AI Testimonials

We recently filmed two different shoots, one in San Francisco and one in New York, with a fast-growing AI company called Ema.

It was a pleasure to sit down with the CHRO at Wipro, a global company with more than 150,000 employees, to talk about how AI is changing teams.

Recruiting is changing rapidly, so we interviewed Artico Search’s CEO to talk about how AI-enabled search is enabling small firms to do more with less.

Across both of these productions, we brought a minimal team to set on short notice, and made the most of these productions by producing several secondary assets from each.

Even as AI reshapes industries, the value of real humans talking authentically about their experience only grows in importance.

Responsive Conference Highlight

We’re continuing to do our own internal video production, too, which would not be complete without mention of everything that comes out for Responsive Conference – including this highlight video.

This highlight captures a bit of the whimsy and intimacy that make Responsive Conference special.
